True Worshippers

Scriptures: John 4:23-24 Psalm 150:6 Romans 12:1 Psalm 29:2 John 14:6 John17:17 3 John 1:4 Mathew 22:37

In John 4:23 -24 we read “but the hour is coming and now is the time when the true worshippers will worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth. For the Father is seeking such to worship him. (Verse 24) God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth”.

What powerful words these are? To worship God in Spirit and in Truth. What could this mean. Our worship should originate from deep within our heart, be motivated by our love for God and by what our Lord has for us through dying on the cross. God commands us in scripture to love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul and mind (Mathew 22:37). Psalm 150:6 reminds us “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord”. The deeper our relationship becomes with the Lord I believe the more we desire to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. Worship is an important part of our daily walk with the Lord. To worship God in Spirit and in Truth is truly amazing, bringing us into the presence of God’s love, glory, peace, joy and presence.

There are benefits of worshipping God in Spirit and in Truth. We can express our love for God and show how much we value God. We can renew our hearts, souls, and minds. Our spiritual growth can be enhanced, faith can be strengthened, and we can express our genuine gratitude and thankfulness to God.

How then can we worship God in Spirit and in Truth? For each one of us this is different. This could be through song, silent prayer, listening to music, mediation on God’s Word, learning scripture, prayer, thanksgiving, just being in the presence of God as well as other ways. Give the Lord the glory that is due to his name, worship the Lord in the beauty of his holiness (Psalm 29:2)

The Lord is worthy of glory, honour, and praise. Worship that brings God glory comes from the deepest place in our being. Whether we are joyful, peaceful, happy, anxious, depressed, anguished, sick, in a hard place, we can still worship God. In John 17:17 we read “Sanctity them by your Truth.”

Prayers: Everyday Lord as we grow to love you more, and we draw closer to you. Nothing can compare to a place where we can see you face to face and worship you in Spirit and in Truth.

Lord, we desire to worship you in Spirit and in Truth. Please enable us to worship you in a deeper and more meaningful way that is right for us. AMEN
