One with Christ

It is no longer I that live but Christ that lives in me;He lives, He lives, Jesus is alive in me. What an amazing song. This song raises a question, if Christ lives in us does this mean that we are One with Christ?

One with Christ

When we read these words, what does this makes us think about. Is this a difficult concept to understand? No, being one with Christ simply means a relationship between us as a believer and our Lord. There are many scriptures in the Bible that talk about being one with Christ, and in I Corinthians 6:17 we read “He who joins himself with the lord becomes one with him spiritually”.

What is a relationship with Christ?

If we give our lives to Christ, we become one with God and form a relationship with God. Having a relationship with our Lord means we have accepted Jesus Christ as our lord and Saviour. We believe that He died on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. We accept the Bible as God’s truth and are filled with the Holy Spirit. We pray and seek God in everything that we do. Christ dwells in our hearts and whoever is united with the Lord is one with him in spirit. 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us “if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation”.

How does one become one with Christ?

We acknowledge our sin and the need for forgiveness and ask Jesus into our lives. Through doing this we receive the Lord’s amazing forgiveness and grace, and we are filled with His Holy Spirit. Paul asks the question in 1 Corinthians 3:16 “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that Gods spirit dwells in you?”

A relationship with God is formed and develops over time. As our trust in God increases, our faith is strengthened and our relationship with God becomes stronger.

We read in John 14:6 “I am the Way the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Now is the time, become One with Christ, today, as it is no longer you that lives but Christ that lives in you.

PRAYER: We thank You Lord that we can be one with Jesus Christ and that we can have a relationship with him. AMEN
